Huskies Blow Past Northwestern

The Huskies, increasingly looking like a team capable of winning a title, throttled No. 2 seed Northwestern 9-0 in five innings, gaining themselves a day off today and a favorite's tag to win a spot in the best-of-three championship series starting Monday.

While the Huskies still have a way to go to win the national title, they can declare themselves the champions of Chicago after dispatching both DePaul, and Northwestern on succesive days. By winning the first two days the Huskies earned themselves a day off before playing either ASU, DePaul, or Arizona at 10:00 AM on Sunday. A win on Sunday will propel the Huskies into the championship round which begins on Monday.

Actually missed the softball game. Kept checking back to ESPN but after 2 1/2 hours figured they would just cancel the game, so was quite surprised to see the score. Getting hot at the right time helps, to me they sound like world beaters, not sure who they will play but my money thinks Az on sunday and Tennessee for the marbles. Too bad the crew races aren't on TV.

I think the last time I saw a non Olympic Crew race on TV was on Wide World of Sports in the 1970's. Crew should get better coverage, it is a magnificent sport.

It would be great if the softball team could win out and take the crown. The program is overdue for a championship, and it is great to see them back on the right track after the coaching change.
