Trojans and Mayo Thrash UW 73-59

OJ Mayo, and USC were way too tough for the cold shoooting Huskies last night at Hec Edmundson Pavillion. The Huskies kept it close in the first half trailing only 36-33 at the break, but USC came out and outscored UW 33-15 in the first 16 minutes of the second half. Mayo scored 20 in the first half and finished with 29 on the game. The Huskies made it a bit more respectable in garbage time, but they really weren't in the game much tonight.

Brian White Hired?

Ex Syracuse, and Wisconsin assistant Brian White was at Hec Edmundson Pavillion last night. The word is he was hired to take over either TE/ST or RB's. White has experience coaching both those positions plus experience as an offensive coordinator. Expect the hiring to be announced today, or Monday. No public speculation yet on who Willingham is talking to about the other opening yet. White is a solid hire with lots of experience.

At the 101 club today TW said he had his TE/ ST coach but had to work out a couple of details so I would think that is the position White would fill. He said the guy was at the UW today.

They should be pretty close on the other one too.

Johnb, the game was typical of the season. .095 % for 3 pt shooting, 50% FT shooting, and two cold spells, the second half one killed us. OJ Mayo was much better this game than in LA, he is very fluid and smooth. 11 guys played tonight for the dawgs, never has been a tight rotation of players to get a feel for each other, but LR may be searching still for that right group. There is a definite lack of chemistry on this years version of team. Disappointing in light of the the pre season supposedly bonding Greece trip.

The problem all year has been at the guard spots. they aren't fast enough, and they don't shoot well enough. That makes them a liability on both sides of the court. Pondexter is another problem, but with a better job in the permiter he would do better.

101 Club--- It is a downtown business club that has luncheons with speakers each week, or whenever they convene. It is an old Seattle tradition.

It's a guys club at teh WAC that has been there for at least 500 years promoting amature athletics. It is kind of a whose who in Seattle. They have weekly meetings with a different speaker each week. Willingham spoke yesterday and did a good job.

The WAC is a great place, I remember when it was one of the only quality places in town to workout before the health club boom started.

WAC is a great place to tailgate as well. We tailgate just to the side of it and use real bathrooms vs the porta-potties. It's fun to look at the boats tied up out there too. Some are huge, big bucks

The WAC is downtown, I think you have it mixed up with the Seattle Yacht Club which is in Portage Bay.

Water Front Activities Center at the east end of the stadium where they bring in fans coming to the game in the boats anchored out
