Dan Evans "I Have Not Yet Begun To Fight"

Dan Evans takes on Art Thiel today in the PI.

"As a much more famous American once said, 'I have not yet begun to fight,' " he said. Evans and university lobbyists would, by Friday or Monday, have a sponsor in the Senate for a bill proposing public funding, Chopp be damned -- as well as anyone else who questioned the wisdom. "If somebody says they want a piece of this, I'll go up against anybody," he said. "I'll guarantee we can knock down anyone's arguments over need and urgency."

As I said yesterday, this is far from dead.

As for Frank Chopp, who appointed him God?

A-T-F quite frankly is just a d--k head. I wait for the day the PI finally goes under so he and Moore can look for a new job..There are a few rags down here they might be interested in, but I doubt they would be hired.

Lol...Prrbrr....Art is a god writer, he is extremely smart, but sometimes none of us can exactly figure out where he is coming from.

His first article on the stadium remodeling project was basically a hatchet job on Chopp which served little purpose but amusing Art. We all know Chopp is flawed, but the timing of the attack was ill timed.

In his second article he says he is in favor of it, but has mixed emotions because fund raising in the private sector was never started, let alone maxed out. He makes a good point even if we don't want to here it.

Point is we don't have time, we need to get this thing done now. I think it will get done, but as usual in Olympia it takes a lot of work.

I responded to Taft's "PI says DOA post" on Dawgman with:
I've lived in Thurston County (30+ years) watching the boys and girls of winter play their games to know nothing is over in Olpympia until the final gavel of a legislative session. I've seen "DOA" bills passed in the middle of the night on the last day when I worked at the state printing plant where we printed all the legislature's bills, minutes, etc.

Nothing is ever dead in Olympia. This Frank Chopp is a real piece of work, and he is really going to make some serious political enemies this time around if he doesn't watch it.

Once again this guy has to go. For some reason he thinks he is above it all.

Given the incestuous relationship between WA Democrats and the unions I wonder if this issue would find smooth sailing if union jobs were promised? Unions have a lot of power in Olyville right now.

Any type of construction doen at the UW would require Union contractors if my recollection is correct.
